Electronic evidence can be overwhelming in its size and complexity. H&A’s eExamine review platform employs state-of-the art technologies in a scalable and customizable platform that has the capacity to process vast volumes of electronic evidence swiftly and efficiently.
eExamine’s pre-processing engine creates review databases from any combination of sources, including original source data files, email databases, scanned images and even the opposition’s eDiscovery production. The robust pre-processor captures all metadata and document text, extracts attachment (‘child’) documents from lead (‘parent’) containers and identifies duplicate documents and similar documents (‘near duplicates’). The Review phase can begin immediately after the first batch of documents has been pre-processed since documents can be dynamically added to the review database at any time.
eExamine offers real-time data metric reporting that enables rapid assessment of the population of documents to be reviewed. Summaries of document sets by file type & size, custodian, email sender and date are instantly available. In addition any number of user-defined categorizations can be created to meet case requirements.
eExamine's document review window clearly identifies all documents related to the document under review, typically in the form of the email attachments or embedded text, data or image files. Related documents are categorized as Lead, Attachment, Duplicate and/or Similar Document and can be quickly accessed with a single click.
Document images may be interactively redacted during the review, with available colour coding to identify the redactions of an individual reviewer. Redactions are transparently highlighted to ensure that redacted text remains visible to all reviewers in the online document image, and are passed through to image production output.
Documents may be categorized by user-defined, searchable and colour coded review tags, such as "Not Relevant" or "Privileged", and sorted into an unlimited number of user-defined virtual "Issue Folders" and sub-folders. Documents can hold many simultaneous classifications, and bulk additions and revisions of document categorizations are accomplished in one step. Review annotations ("Notes"), either public or private, can also be attached to any document and are readily searchable.
Through development of custom user interfaces, H&A's eDiscovery professionals can consolidate structured databases, such as those found in financial reporting systems, with unstructured databases, such as email or personal custodian electronic files, to utilize eExamine's powerful consolidation and search tools to identify complex or hidden links between databases.
