Computer Forensics/e-Discovery Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
Our Toronto office is seeking an experienced Computer Forensics / Electronic Discovery Manager to assist with computer forensic investigations and large scale electronic discovery projects. This position will be of interest to professionals with a degree in computer science or information systems and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct in-depth computer forensics investigations including gathering, analyzing and interpreting digital data
• Oversee and/or assist in the planning, execution and management of complex electronic discovery and computer forensics projects
• Develop proprietary systems for use throughout the eDiscovery process
• Utilize proprietary utilities and leading-edge forensic software
• Follow established procedures with respect to documentation, evidence handling and chain of custody
• Assist in the creation and updating of internal procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree with Major(s) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Engineering
• 3 to 5 years experience in a computer forensics, eDiscovery and/or electronic document management environment
• Through coursework or internships, a working knowledge of Unix, Linux, Macintosh and Windows operating systems, PDA operating systems, cell phone protocols, and various network protocols
• In-depth understanding of Internet communication protocols
• A+ certification considered an asset
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
Technical:
• Experience with forensic tools, including (but not limited to) Encase, FTK, Paraben, Oxygen Forensics
• Understanding of digital hardware, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble various digital devices
• Thorough knowledge of interfaces, including USB, Firewire, IDE, SATA and SCSI. Application, system, and/or web services programming, including Asp.Net (preferred) and VB (preferred) Java, Perl, PHP, C#, C++
• Experience developing complex SQL queries, using T-SQL or PL/SQL
• Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino and Groupwise email server administration experience would be an asset
• Internet protocols and networking systems, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, WHOIS, IRC, FTP, HTTP, P2P and NNTP
• Knowledge of, and proficiency with, information systems, security concepts and methods
• Ability to understand and reverse engineer machine code
Other:
• Excellent report writing, verbal communication and presentation skills
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects
• Ability to learn new technologies and protocols and adapt to changing environments
• Ability to conceptualize investigative strategies and solutions and present to clients and senior professionals in a clear and concise manner
